David L. Hughes was appointed assistant treasurer - Wisconsin Energy Corporation and We Energies in November 2006. In this role, he manages all aspects of the Tax department, including regulated and non-regulated affiliates and non-income based taxes. Additionally, Hughes is responsible for IRS and state audit cycles, Tax department personnel, tax and legal structuring and Wisconsin Energy Corporation�s overall effective tax rate.
Hughes joined the company in July 2005 as Tax director. Prior to joining the company, he served as international tax manager for Sensient Technologies Corporation, Milwaukee. He also worked in the mergers and acquisition practices of KPMG LLP, Chicago, and Ernst & Young LLP, Washington D.C.
A certified public accountant, Hughes earned a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance from Marquette University and a master's degree in taxation from the University of Denver.
