Fred Valentine began his 21-year career at Avista as a temporary employee in a program that wrapped customer electric water heaters in energy-saving insulation blankets. After nine months in that role, he was hired for a full-time position in Avista�s billing department. From there, Fred worked in the energy conservation program, then as a representative for Avista�s Customer Assistance and Referral Service (CARES) and as a natural gas leak surveyor.
In 1990, Fred was accepted into the gas meterman apprentice program and has been in the gas meter shop ever since. As a journeyman gas measurement technician, he tests and repairs natural gas meters, regulators and electronic volume correctors.
Fred was raised in a large family, with 13 siblings. All have graduated from college, and some have graduate degrees. He considers his parents the biggest influence in his life.
Outside of Avista, Fred is a devoted fan of his two basketball-playing daughters, attending their games, and enjoys traveling with his wife and family. |
