Mr. Blackford brings extensive management expertise to Universal Hospital Services, Inc. (UHS). Before joining the Company in July 2002, Blackford, 49, was Chief Executive Officer for Curative Health Services, a specialty pharmacy and health services company, where he was instrumental in restructuring the benefit management (PBM)company, which was sold to Express Scripts (Nasdaq: ESRX) in 1998. As the Chief Operating Officer of Value Rx, Mr. Blackford was responsible for the re-engineering of the company�s organizational structure. Prior to his tenure at ValueRx, Mr. Blackford served MedIntell Systems Corporation as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. At MedIntell, he led the development of a unique and sophisti- cated pharmacy management system for hospitals. The company was purchased by Value Health, Inc. in 1995. In addition to Mr. Blackford�s strong executive and healthcare experience, he holds a B.B.A. from the University of Iowa, a J.D. from Creighton University and is a Certified PublicAccountant. |
