Gerald A. O�Brien is vice president and deputy general counsel of Lyondell Chemical Company. In this capacity, O'Brien primarily concentrates on coordinating and providing legal services in connection strategic transactions and finance matters across all of Lyondell�s businesses, which include subsidiaries Equistar Chemicals, LP, Millennium Chemicals Inc. and Houston Refining LP.
Prior to being elected to his current position, he served as vice president and general counsel of Equistar. Prior to becoming an officer, O�Brien was associate general counsel for Lyondell Petrochemical Company. He joined Lyondell's Legal Department in 1989 and has been responsible for legal services associated with a number of activities, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and securities, and ERISA and employment law.
O�Brien graduated magna cum laude from Carleton College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School with a J.D. degree. He began his career in private practice at law firms in Minneapolis and Denver. O'Brien is a member of the American Corporate Counsel Association, American Bar Association and Texas Bar Association. |
