Larry J. Pfeil has served as vice president of engineering for Hormel Foods since 1999 and is responsible for all of the company�s engineering functions. He has been involved in the design, construction and maintenance of Hormel Foods� facilities throughout the United States and internationally.
Over Pfeil�s 35-year career with Hormel Foods, he has been involved in all aspects of engineering at the company. He joined Hormel Foods in 1972 as a staff engineer, was promoted to senior staff engineer in 1977 and supervising staff engineer in 1979. He became supervisor of maintenance and engineering at the Fremont, Neb. plant in 1988 and became manager of plant engineering at the Austin, Minn. plant a year later. In 1993, he was promoted to corporate manager of project engineering. He advanced to corporate manager of engineering in 1997 and to director of engineering in 1999. Later that year, he was promoted to his current position.
A professional engineer since 1975, Pfeil holds a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Platteville. He was honored with the American Meat Institute�s highest award, the Industry Advancement Award, in 2003 for work on a task force that established principles of sanitary equipment design.
Pfeil has been on the Austin Country Club Board for eight years and is now serving as past-president. He is a past president of the Austin Utility Board, where he served nine years, and is also past president of the Austin Area Catholic Schools Board, where he served for 10 years. Pfeil is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and Lions Club International. |
