Lisa A. Lori represents national and international businesses in a full range of complex commercial litigation matters, including copyright and trademark disputes, real estate disputes and general business torts. Ms. Lori also counsels clients on a variety of matters, including advertising, marketing, branding and regulatory (including Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC)) compliance. Representative Litigation Matters:
Obtaining a multi-million dollar arbitration award on behalf of a shop-at-home and direct response marketing company in a breach of contract action against a large cosmetics manufacturer. Award included damages, back commissions and reinstatement of the contract
Obtaining a trial decision in favor of a NYSE cable television company in a case of first impression under Federal Communications Commission cable television regulations
Successfully defending a seller of a business in a $12 million claim for fraud and breach of contract
Obtaining seizure orders, injunctions and judgments in trademark infringement and counterfeiting actions on behalf of several internationally known apparel manufacturers, fashion accessory designers and computer software companies
Negotiating a large settlement in a trademark infringement action against a famous household products manufacturer
Assisting in the successful defense of a $30 million declaratory judgment action filed in court in England, on behalf of a publicly held company, arising out of plaintiff's claim to have a multi-million dollar services contract terminated due to an alleged corporate change of control
Successfully defending a non-profit institution against claims of civil rights violations
Representative Counseling Matters:
Counseling a best-selling author of health and nutritional books on FDA and FTC compliance
Counseling a manufacturer of dietary supplements on labeling, advertising and general FDA and FTC compliance with respect to products, marketing materials and infomercials
Counseling an international, publicly traded manufacturer of computer software on advertising matters and FTC compliance
Prior to entering law school, Ms. Lori served as president of an apparel design and manufacturing company.
