Lou Nieto was named president of ConAgra Foods Consumer Foods Refrigerated business in September 2006. As the leader of a significant portion of the companys product portfolio, which includes such brands as Hebrew National, Egg Beaters, Reddi-wip and Fleischmanns, he is aligning his resources to drive sustainable, profitable growth and position ConAgra Foods to win. Currently, his business is working to drive the incremental distribution of several new products, manage the companys pricing strategy across all Refrigerated brands, improve in-store merchandising and leverage category and consumer insights to increase top-line sales.
Nieto joined ConAgra Foods as president of Packaged Meats and Deli in August 2005, which, at the time, included Hebrew National, Butterball and Healthy Choice lunch meats, and the Armour and Eckrich brands. When the company divested its commodity-based businesses to focus on more profitable, value-added products, Nieto led his groups highly-successful transition to the new ConAgra Foods.
Before joining the company, Nieto was president and chief executive officer of Federated Group. He also held several senior marketing and strategy roles with Dean Foods, Mission Foods and Kraft. Nieto began his packaged foods career with Quaker Oats.
Nieto recently received the 2007 Stars award from the Hispanic Alliance for Career Advancement (HACE), which recognizes individuals for leveraging their HACE experience to launch successful careers in a variety of fields and using their skills, relationships and talents to help others along the way.
Lou serves on the Ryder System, Inc. board and is member of the University of Chicagos College Visiting Committee. He earned his bachelors degree from the University of Chicago and an MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business.
