Dr. Martin Barrie is a Senior Managing Scientist in Exponent�s Health Sciences practice. He has over 23 years combined experience in the scientific disciplines practices and principles of epidemiology toxicology industrial hygiene exposure and risk assessment and in the practice of law in toxic tort and environmental litigation. Dr. Barrie integrates these disciplines with the legal theories practices and issues in toxic tort and environmental litigation.
Dr. Barrie has practiced as a field Industrial Hygienist for international companies performing area and personnel monitoring and assessments in refining chemical and maritime operations to identify evaluate and control potential exposures to various chemicals products and physical agents. Dr. Barrie has also been involved with the use of the Ames assay to analyze the mutagenicity of air particulates and formaldehyde and has designed and conducted field epidemiologic investigations for occupational and childhood toxic exposures. In addition to his scientific experience Dr. Barrie established his own litigation firm in 1993 specializing in toxic tort and chemical exposure cases where he investigated and litigated the etiology risk factors and confounders of various occupational diseases including: various leukemia�s (AML ALL CML CLL) multiple myeloma and lymphomas; neurological diseases; and cancers including cancers of the lung stomach bladder nose and upper respiratory system kidney liver and brain. |
