Mike Skalka has more than 30 years experience in the title insurance and real estate industries. He joined Stewart in 1988 as President of Stewart Title Insurance Company, a subsidiary underwriter located in New York, and has served as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since 1993. Skalka founded Stewart's United Kingdom underwriter, Stewart Title Limited, in the early 1990s and continues to serve as its Chairman. He became General Counsel of Stewart Title Guaranty Company in 1993, and subsequently General Counsel of Stewart Title Company. Additionally, he served as chief legal officer of Stewart Information Services Corporation until 2005.
In 2005, Skalka was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Stewart's international group and in 2007 was elected President of Stewart Title Guaranty Company. In these positions, he directs and oversees the Stewart organization�s worldwide underwriting activities.
Skalka received his B.A. degree from C.W. Post College of Long Island University and his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law. He has served as President of the New York State Land Title Association and has been a frequent speaker at bar association and related industry functions throughout the country. He also has been quoted in articles concerning the international real estate market. |
