Michael J. Valentino brings more than 25 years of experience to his role as president and chief executive officer of Adams Respiratory Therapeutics. Mike has held a broad range of critical leadership positions in domestic and global general management, operations, strategic management, and marketing and sales at major pharmaceutical companies.
Prior to joining Adams, Mike was president and chief operating officer (COO), global human pharmaceuticals, at Alpharma Inc., where he had general management and full profit-and-loss responsibilities for a business that generated more than $1 billion in global revenue in 2002.
Previously, Mike was affiliated with Novartis, a leading global pharmaceutical company, where he advanced through several senior management positions in the consumer sector. He served as executive vice president/global head, Consumer Pharmaceuticals, where he held responsibility for managing the company�s $1.7 billion global consumer pharmaceuticals business.
From 1999 to 2000, Mike was president and COO of Novartis North America. In this role, he headed 3 diverse business units (Consumer Pharmaceuticals, Novartis Nutrition Corporation, and Health and Functional Nutrition) with more than $900 million in aggregate annual revenue. In his first position with Novartis, Mike served as president and CEO of Novartis Nutrition Corporation. Before joining Novartis, he was employed by Pharmacia & Upjohn as president of Consumer Pharmaceuticals, North America. Mike also held senior management positions at the former Warner-Lambert Company. Mike earned a bachelor's degree in psychology in 1976 from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. |
