Philip A. Garcia CPA FLMI ACS serves as executive vice president and chief financial officer for Erie Insurance Group the 15th largest writer of private passenger automobile insurance based on direct premiums written and the 22nd largest writer of property/casualty insurance in the United States. Erie Insurance Group located in Erie Pa. is a regional insurer of personal and small commercial property and casualty insurance operating in 11 states and the District of Columbia. Erie Insurance Group is currently ranked 425 on the Fortune 500 and is listed in Forbes magazine�s PLATINUM 400 list of best-managed companies in America.
Garcia has responsibility for all accounting finance tax corporate service investment management and life and property casualty actuarial functions for Erie Insurance Group. He is also a member of the executive council which develops strategy for all Erie Insurance Group businesses. Garcia has been involved with financial management of Erie Insurance Group since 1981 with included assignments in internal audit vice president of the life insurance business chief accounting officer and controller.
Garcia earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Grove City College Grove City Pa. where he currently serves on the Board of Directors. He became a CPA in 1980. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Financial Executives Institute. He currently serves on the Board of Railpower Technologies Corp. a leader in specialized energy systems for the transportation and power generation industries headquartered in North Vancouver NC. Garcia also serves on the Railpower Audit Committee. Garcia also serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Hamot Health Foundation a multi-million dollar non-profit hospital system located in Erie Pa. Garcia also currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Hamot Medical Center. He is currently on the Board of Directors and serves on the Board of Trustees and is Treasurer of the Warner Theatre Preservation Trust a non-profit organization committed to the restoration of the historic Warner Theatre in Erie Pa. |
