Reta Busher became the Virginia Department of Transporation's (VDOT) chief financial officer effective Sept. 10, 2007.
In her new position, she oversees the agency�s $4 billion budget as well as several financial planning and administrative services functions, including public-private partnerships, innovative finance and revenue operations, financial planning and others.
Busher brings 27 years of corporate and local government financial experience to her position.
Prior to joining VDOT, she served as director of finance for Henrico County for five years. Busher joined Henrico County in 1993 as its director of management and budget and was named deputy director of finance in 1999.
She was promoted to director of finance in 2002, while also serving as the county�s treasurer and commissioner of revenue. During that time, the county began working with private partners to carry out transportation initiatives.
Busher worked for Roanoke County government, first as a financial analyst, then the director of management and budget, for nine years before joining Henrico County.
She worked for Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Company in Roanoke as an assistant, staff and senior accountant between 1980 and 1984.
