Robert Ansehl is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm�s New York office. As a member of the Firm�s Corporate Department his practice focuses on corporate and regulatory matters for U.S. and international financial institutions with a concentration upon insurance and reinsurance companies, commercial and investment banks, private equity and hedge funds.
Bob has experience with financings, mergers and acquisitions, securitization transactions, including life settlements, BOLI/COLI programs, sureties and financial guaranties, self insured and captive programs as well as public and private capital markets and alternative risk transfer deals. Bob also works with clients on insurance and reinsurance-based derivative transactions.
Bob is conversant in the state insurance regulatory aspects of transactions and represents insurers, reinsurers, agencies and other producers in numerous regulatory matters, including the successful resolution of a number of market conduct investigations.
Bob was an official advisor to the drafting committee of the American Law Institute, National Conference of Commissioners of Uniform State Laws on Article 4A. He also has been a member of several advisory committees to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Bob has been honored by Euromoney�s Institutional Investor as one of the Leading Insurance and Transaction lawyers in the world from 2002 to present and has been named a 2006/2007 Super Lawyer.
Bob is a former member of the Board of Directors of several insurance and reinsurance companies, including Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (US), Suecia Insurance Company and Trygg Hansa. He is an advisor to Strategic Asset Alliance (an asset liability consulting company for the insurance industry) and ARIS Title Insurance Company. He is a member of the Business Law Section and the Tort and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association, the Insurance Federation of New York and the Insurance Law Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
