Dr. Demaria, a clinical psychologist, is the recipient of numerous awards and honors for his work in the areas of stress, trauma and interpersonal effectiveness, Dr. Demaria�s groundbreaking work has resulted in such innovative programs as SIBSPlace, Home Ground and the World Trade Center Family Center, which has counseled 1,500 bereaved family members since 9/11. Dr. Demaria is very active in community and professional education/research and is the founder of the Hospital�s Behavioral Health Learning Institute. He has provided counseling in over 250 local and regional disasters and is a team leader for the Nassau County Department of Mental Health Critical Incident Response Team and a responder for Mental Health Disaster Team of the Nassau County and Greater New York Chapters of the American Red Cross.
